Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research CKIR
CKIR, founded in 1999, is an academic and multidisciplinary research center at the Aalto University School of Business. CKIR’s main research focus is on innovation ecosystems, ICT enabled service platforms and thus enabled new business dynamics. CKIR conducts its research with international network of firms, universities, cities and public agencies like the European Commission.
Research
In our research at CKIR, people as citizens, users and customers, cities as places of life, public services and social networks are viewed as sources and contexts for knowledge creation and innovation. We are active in developing the theoretical background and research methodologies for open ecosystem-based human-centric research, development and innovation (RDI).
In order to achieve our goals, we utilize our RDI and new RDI infrastructures. Our empirical research benefits from applied multi-methodological approach. The research is parallel to corporate venturing and R&D, or in case of cities parallel to regional and urban economic planning and innovation policy development.
About research and ongoing projects
CKIR’s research agenda builds on premises that in demand-driven innovations people as citizens, users and customers, cities as places of life, public services and social networks and other ‘players’ are viewed as sources and contexts for knowledge creation and innovation.
Past projects
